  • Dress Up like a Raptor

Nothing beats having a ‘bird of prey’ themed party. Halloween is another good excuse. Sharp hooked beaks, yellow talons and feathers are all defining features of raptors. Zoe Armstrong, with help from her Mum, put together this eagle costume. Yellow tights, a helmet lined with feathers and a bald eagle mask topped off this ‘dress-up’. (Purchase the eagle mask at our Wingspan gift shop).

What other raptors can you dress up as?

    Zoe’s “Owl Pellet” Treats
    1 can reduced cream
    1 Tbsp of cocoa
    Desiccated coconut
At least 8-10 biscuits (malt or milk arrowroot work well)

Crush the biscuits in a bag with rolling pin until they are small crumbs.
Add cocoa and cream, mixing together until balls can be formed, making sure the mixture does not get too wet.

Serving suggestion: Put the ‘pellets’ on a plate of crumbled ‘Cadbury flakes’ to make them look like they are amongst twigs and debris on the ground, as they would in the wild.
